Hi

If I say:

*Her work lacks inspiration.
( Does it mean she could not inspire anyone to anything?)

Thanks

Tom

I think in this sentence by "work" we should imply a piece of art that is lack of inspiration and doesn't make any impression on smb.

Hi Tom

I would understand from your sentence that the work that she does is simply average, nothing special. No one has inspired her to produce something special or out of the ordinary. (She has also not inspired herself.) She feels no inspiration when she works and that is reflected by her work.

I don't necessarily understand "work" to be a "work of art" --- it could be any kind of work.

And if the work that she produces lacks inspiration, it probably also lacks the ability to inspire someone else.

But first and foremost in your sentence, the idea of inspiration is directly connected to "how she works" and/or "the quality of what she produces".
