Can I use IT WAS TOO LATE instead of IT'S TOO LATE? #1 (permalink) Sat May 27, 2006 18:05 pm   Can I use IT WAS TOO LATE instead of IT'S TOO LATE?

Hello! How are you doing?

EX: "It was too late". I got the date wrongly.
The university was closed and the exams
had finished.

Can I use "It was too late" instead of
"It?s too late"?

I?ve always heard it in the present simple
way, but not in a past way.

Is it correct?

Thanks indeed!

Enjoy Saturday night!

The sentence "It was too late" is perfectly correct and common.

However, I would say "I got the date wrong". Perhaps because 'wrongly' is too formal for 'I got'.
