Use 'Yet': in present perfect continuous OR in present perfect simple #1 (permalink) Wed May 31, 2006 9:29 am   Use 'Yet': in present perfect continuous OR in present perfect simple

Hi

Can we use ( Yet ) in present perfect continuous or it will be just at present perfect simple ?
For example :
" the main sentence"

I've finished . (not yet )

I haven't been finishing yet .
I haven't finished yet .

which one is right ? or the both are right ..

thanks

And the same situation about since

Is it right ?

Thanks

Hi SeL

Your choice of verbs (finish) was not good as an example because the sentence "I haven't been finishing" would not be possible/correct in most cases --- with or without "yet."

But to answer your question, the word "yet" would be used mainly with present perfect simple. Using "yet" with the present perfect continuous would be relatively rare, in my opinion.

Hi Guest
Yes, your sentence is correct.
