Can you please comment on the "Since diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany has been established in 1992,..." part of the sentence below:
"Since diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany has been established in 1992, soon after Georgia gained its second independence, Germany has always actively supported Georgia in its endeavors to build a democratic country."
Do you think that the tense is used correctly in the sentence? I personally believe that this should be "Since diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany was established in 1992,..." I would be greateful if you also comment on other mistakes in this sentence.

Thanks beforehand

First, were established but not wasEverything seems quite right to meThe use of the present perfect at the beginning of the sentence is used by intention to stress the fact of establishment.

Hi Pity,

You asked for comments on:

Quote:
Since diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany has been established in 1992, soon after Georgia gained its second independence, Germany has always actively supported Georgia in its endeavors to build a democratic country."

To begin with the use and meaning of the word since is not clear in the sentence. Does it mean because or from that time onwards Let's assume that it means from that time on. In which case I would start with: Since 1992 when ..

The second point is that the subject diplomatic relations is plural and so needs a plural verb

I would then write:

Since 1992 when diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany were established and soon after Georgia gained its second independence, Germany has always actively supported Georgia in its endeavors to build a democratic country
