Oh, yes… I have plenty of time till August (when I’ll know the results) to recollect most of my possible mistakes |
Hi Tamara!
I meant that you should think about your friends at this site, not about which mistakes you could have made. If Spencer were here he would tell you that it isn?t neccessary to think about what happened but to look forward, as you can?t change the past but you can have influence on the future. Speeeeeence, dear bloodbrother, come on, tell Tamara the truth! And something that is also right, were that you don?t have to think about your errors, because if you should have done some the testers will tell you which. So relax, look forward and do your best tomorrow. By the way, I think I?ll be unable to work tomorrow too as I?m crossing my fingers again.

I know that in standard English it should be I. And I doubt if such a widely used 'colloquial', street English is acceptable in exam writing even though the task was 'informal letter (e-mail)'. |
Once again ask Spencer, he?ll give you the right explanation.

I think the forum is lucky to meet you. You wrote many interesting and hilarious posts.
Good luck tomorrow too

Sorry, yesterday I had lots of troubles with my daughter, as she suddenly fell sick with high temperature. So, the last day-and-night was (were?) not the best in my life. Now she is much better.
Meanwhile, I’ve had my Listening and Speaking exams. Rather in vivo than in vitro , because for the 'discussion' task (4 candidates, problem-solving, 15 minutes) we happened to have a company of horses of very different coats : one guy from China (with the very strong Chinese accent which I can hardly understand), a very talkative and slightly too opinionated lady from Chile and a very-very shy and not-not-not very proactive girl from Shi Lanka. And me, who is not a Christmas gift, either It was really hard to keep the ball rolling and to come to an 'agreement'…
Other tasks seemed to be OK. But… August will tell...
You’re right, guru Michael I know that reflection, introspection are helpful methods to analyse yourself and to realize (consciousnessly) some useful (even though unpleasant) experience you had had.
But I also know (well enough) that very (too?) often all those deep regrets "Oh! That was my unforgivable fault…", "I shouldn’t had done that!", "What would have happened if I’d done / hadn’t done that…" etc. becomes a fen. Blocking you, sucking you in - more and more…
I think one of the most important life skills is to learn how to keep healthy balance between 'deep though-out(s)' and 'spontaneous actions' and how to get the mature ability of flexible switching the current focus from (too) close examination of your past, to positive 'looking forward’, remaining 'here and know' - just LIVING.
eeee.... I myself is not proficient in life living, as yet, and still have soooooo much to learn
P.S. Excuse me for the philosophical off-topic

Hi Michael!
Thanks for your kindness and for your positive look, you’re always very supportive, indeed.

Ah! Now I’ve realized that you meant not an (unknown to me) comics’ character, not the owner of Marks&Spe…, but the forum’s member spenser from Budapest. Yes, I’ve read some of the enjoyable, clear and clever spencer’s posts. Probably, he is now too busy (…with his summer holiday ) and, hopefully, will return to polishing here his English (which is very good, as it is ).

Are you sure? (to enjoy # to be enjoyable (making smb. enjoyed)). But sometimes - yes!
Michael, I give up… Concerning soccer details I am completely a lamer Just like to watch some of most impressive and emotional moments – such as yesterday evening’s ones, when I was called by my son to watch how those penalties would be kicked.
Have a nice weekends! (Now it’s 11.55 a.m. and almost 28 degrees centigrade here… Oh!.. I definitely refuse to do barbeque today… nooooo…. just Cold Soup… maybe…)

Hi Dark magician!
I seem to be all right, thanks. Despite the very hot weather we have here, I am alive and still ready to learn English - at least a half an hour an every summer day
Thanks for your post!
…On the one side, all abandoned wretches who became wealthy only due to Evil’s dodges must bless him - days and nights. In the case IF they are really happy with their riches and the cost they've paid, pay and will pay to Evil personally
On the other side, pictures, images, door-plate, etc. are for other people, not for such a powerful person, as Evil is (or, at least, should appear )
On the third side … Evil from your story seems to have the huuuuge inferiority complex and should immediately go to a psychotherapist Being so conceited, so envious and soooo vulnerable! And so helpful Seeing that most of people who took his help are so thankless!! How hard and unpleasant his eternal life is!!! Oh, my God!..
Have a nice time! See you, Tamara _________________ It’s impossible to learn swimming without entering the water…

Hi Michael!
| Quote: | | It?s a few days ago since we have posted. I hope you?re well? |
I doubt if I’m still in my right mind, but nevertheless the last two (hoooot suuuuummer) days I’ve posted almost dozen posts in “English Vocabulary, Grammar and Idioms”
My dog, children and water tortoise are in a good health, despite the hot weather. An hour ago I’ve back home from the Chinese restaurant where we met with old friends.
So… the life goes.
Michael, I’ve read your post in Feedback and Comments.
1. I don’t consider that moderator = teacher. Moderator is an enthusiastic person devoted to the project (Forum), having a good feeling of Forum's aims and Forum's spirit, and enough time and enthusiasm to remove rubbish and to do useful injections to keep it clean, interesting and healthy
2. I see that Englishuser (Englishuser, sorry for ‘third person’ form and for the discussion here. I am asked directly about you and I never discuss such kind of questions in private boxes ) is young (in terms of Forum's age), not experiences nor as a moderator or as a language tutor. But I also see that he/she has a great enthusiasm and a good feeling of Forum spirit. As other moderators are ready to help him/her to try to become a mature Forum's moderator – why not?
3. This morning I was the second forum's member (after Pamela) who congratulated Englishuser with becoming a moderator. Sincerely.
| Quote: | | ..how is your feeling about your exam now, having been some days left? Or don?t you think about them any longer? In this case please forget my stupid question and go on having a nice and relaxed time. |
It’s funny, but yesterday I ran into a language course manager who offered me to do Adult Literacy mock exam (computerized) at the next level - tomorrow. If my score is well enough he will put me in August’s list for the exam.

Hi Tamara!
Sorry, I didn?t want to bring you to the miserable situation of an informal talk about Englishuser. I?ve been babbling only.
Forget it, please.

Hi Fan of Arabian horses,
You naturally have the right to your opinion about me. It'd be interesting to know what you said about me in "behind the curtain".
Best wishes. |

Hi Englishuser
| Tamara wrote: | | I never discuss such kind of questions in private boxes |
This was said by me, ABOUT ME, about my personality, and only in continuation to our, with Michael, a-month-ago talking about ‘is it better to be “nice for all”[’] (Oh, clumsy punctuation…).
Just to comment it for you a bit: this is not the first time when I appear my impolite features and preference to talk directly and openly. Initially the thread was called (by me) As is and had been renamed by moderators to make such a clumsy name more nice.
I definitely prefer people who don’t’ wear 'masks' and have open faces – such as Michael (Michael, sorry for the ‘third person form’ ) - who ALWAYS says his opinion openly and directly, not beating about the bush.
In continuation to your Gender speech: this is a men’ distinctive feature – to face unpleasant situation directly (whereas most of women prefer indirect "soft" ways and pussyfoot around).
So… If you interpreted my words as saying that I had been invited to talk about you "behind the curtain" (c)) – it’s completely wrong. Only your own preference to look at. Which you, of course, have the full right to have. And, of course, you're welcome to appear it here directly and naturally As in this part of the forum and in this thread you're not a moderator, your can take off your formal green coat.
About your (permanently high) interest to ‘what people talk about Englishuser’ and again in continuation to your 'Gender...’ question - I think, this is a women’ feature. To provoke people to talk about them (and I must admit that there is something in your behaviour that does it) is an indirect, feminine way to get ‘feedback’ from the world. Even though men also have 'demonstrative accentuation' – actors, for example.
Best wishes, Tamara _________________ It’s impossible to learn swimming without entering the water…
