Hi Pamela and thank you!

Yes, continuing a thread 'Hello, I’m still a New Member!' after a month is quite funny Smile
But when, in my very first day, I said that I was going just 'to settle' here, I meant the thread Smile

It’s important for me - among the (vast) Internet (and even on the quite large Forum) to have this, my little English-speaking, home. And daily say "Hi! I’m still here, I’m glad to see you all and to speak to you. And I’m still learning English!!!" Smile Very Happy

See you
Tamara

Pickeled cucumbers and salty fish Sat Jun 24, 2006 13:31 pm  Pickeled cucumbers and salty fish

Hi Michael!

Quote:
pickeled cucumbers and salty fish is the right medicine for the day after!

brine… true brine, with no vinegar...
Strong brine, in which cucumbers were pickled. It's a very old recipe.
Or rich chicken broth Smile

But...
I know recipes against hangover… but I don’t know the strong medicine or chemical solutions against spam robots, but just to remove posts. Day by day...
In my view, it’s not practically efficient (or even possible) to ban all (registered) spamers by their IP-addresses, because (1) they can use proxy and/or change locations, (2) in some cases, to ban 'criminals’, moderators have no other ways, but to ban the entire range of IP-addresses (which could prevent access to the Forum for other, quite innocent, people.
Sad Sad

Tumults in Ascot Sun Jun 25, 2006 11:08 am  Tumults in Ascot

Hi Tamara!

How are you today? Could you relax with cucumbers in brine and rich chicken broth?

As the reason for your party sounded so very public I hope it wasn?t in Ascot Wink , because in our yesterday?s newspaper there is a small note about tumults there. But as you were able to post yesterday, I think you didn?t belong to the tumult-leaders as 28 of the beating and champaign-glasses throwing women and men were put into prison. Wink By the way, our newspaper mentioned that the English newspaper "The Sun" reported about that event. The Queen and me agree that we aren?t amused about things which happened between the members of the ?upper class?. Laughing Laughing

Have a pleasant sunday

Hi Dark magician! Nice to see you!

Hi Michael!

Now I’m fine, thank you. Smile
Not fell of a horse or high-heeled shoes Smile. Not twisted my leg while dancing. Not in a prison (as it seems Smile - or, at least, in a prison cell for 'the upper class' – with quite fast broadband Internet Wink )
And by now even having a bit of hazy recollection of my ESOL exams which are in three days Smile

No, the Ball I've been this time Smile took place in London Metropolitan University, London North campus complex Smile
But… Champaign, tequila, …, and various surprised cocktails are a really high-risky mixture – even in academic environment Wink

P.S. Michael, my congratulations to you and your soccer team Smile on the sure victory. Das ist fantastisch! Smile Well done!

See you,
Tamara

Surprising a cocktail Sun Jun 25, 2006 13:52 pm  Surprising a cocktail

Hi Tamara!

I?m happy to hear that everything is fine with you and also that you had been at a more well behaving society than that in Ascot. Cool

I mean that you always surprise me with expressions and now even in German that?s great. Cool But please tell me how you did manage to surprise your various cocktails? Didn?t they expect to get drunk by such a illustrious society or have you told them some German toasts? Wink Very Happy

I hope you aren?t annoyed by my silly questions but with my little skills in English, I imagined some surprised cocktails Rolling Eyes Smile

Enjoy your sunday

Surprised cocktails Sun Jun 25, 2006 14:37 pm  Surprised cocktails

Smile

In the last quarter of a very long and big public party (for several hundred of people) some cocktail ingredients for 'standard' cocktail recipes are successfully coming to the end (run out) and from this turning-point barmen and barmaid start to express their creativity Smile
Sometimes taste is really surprised Smile Very Happy

Quote:
or have you told them some German toasts?

Frankly, I don’t know German toasts – not a single!
But I clearly remember Wink that before drinking a smallest cup of saki ( japaneese version of vodka, about 13-17% vol, not more ) I said 'kempai'. As it should be Smile

...Now it’s time for me to go out for other Sunday activities Smile

Hope to see you all tomorrow – healthy, wealthy and wise. And lucky Smile

Starting the countdown? Mon Jun 26, 2006 21:30 pm  Starting the countdown?

Hi Tamara!

I hope you had a pleasant sunday afternoon! Here it was as hot and sticky, you weren?t nearly unable to breath in the air until the late afternoon. Then the thunderstorm came and brought a fresh shower and cooled down the air. Cool Sometimes I love a thunderstorm. Anyhow is it always a pretty nice misterious happening and yesterday it was very nice horrible again (Brrrr.....) Wink if you know what I mean. During a quater hour there followed one lightening the other and there was the whole time a thunder to hear. How awful! Very Happy

But what about your exam? Are you busy to learn and counting the last days? 28th ? One and a half day from now! I slowly start crossing my fingers. Might be that I don?t have much time tomorrow, therefore I?ll wish you good luck yet. I think you?ll make it!

See you

…the last hours… the last sighs… before to breath my lastSmile

Frankly, yes, I’m busy. And nervous (not about my English itself, but mainly about the time limit which is too pressing for my unhealthy perfectionism Smile ).
And having already got appointment slips according to which the day after tomorrow I’ll have TRINITY Reading examination at 10-11 a.m. and Writing one – at the same room at 11.a.m.-12.40 p.m. Almost with no break, in fact...

Perhaps, you’ve taken away our previous warm weather… today is dull and rather cold.

My dog doesn’t like thunderstorms at all, but as I’m not a dog and in my next incarnation am going to be a black cat Smile I like discharging the hot and oppressive weather with loud and lightning Smile

Thank you, Michael.
Don't also forget to say me with care 'Break your neck and leg' Very Happy
And. of course, swear me from the heart during the time, please! Smile

See you

Hi Tamara

I don't want to risk wishing you good luck. Shocked
So, instead, I wish you a neck broken in more than one place along with two broken legs and ten sprained toes... Cool Shocked Wink

First day of exam Wed Jun 28, 2006 19:54 pm  First day of exam

Smile

Hi!

Seem to have come back rather WITH shield than ON it. But you nether know... Smile

Reading test was fairly easy and I've managed to finish it 15 minutes before the time is over.
And now I discover just a few my mistakes Smile /wrong answers - among 40 small (close test) questions on eight (page-size) test texts from different area of everyday life.
(One was 'How does your garden grow' - a clear advice on growing plants Smile Smile )

In particular, some words I didn’t know yet - by today's 10 a.m. Smile
For example, timber. The tricky text about a strong construction tempted me to think that 'timber' should be metal rather than wooden. Now I know more Smile

Writing was more difficult for me (as it includes three very different tasks to be done for 100 min but I am not the best Time Manager to schedule myself…)
But this time as I had properly broken neck, legs and brain, I was much more lucky with exam tasks Smile

The first was from computer context (proposal for a new project), the third was very similar to my recent exercise (informal letter to a relative to asks for advice in your difficult situation. I always complain to my non-existent uncle Fred Smile )

But the second… I left it for dessert and, of course, didn’t manage complete to schedule. When ‘5 minutes left’ warning was given, I found myself digging in details of comparison of American and Japanese models of People Management at a large company Smile Not to mention that management of any sort is not my horse at all Smile
So, I was forced to cut short my investigation and concluded the essay – suddenly Smile Never, never, never… this, the best among others, world will gets to know my very important opinion on the topic. Very Happy

And, of course, as usual, I had no time to check up my hasty writing - to place missing articles, to remove redundant ones Smile and to correct all those damn 'staff are', 'money is',
'call to [-THE-] police', etc.

Well... To sum it all up Smile : generally, I hope I’ve done it. Cleared the today's bar.

P.S. Sorry for such a long post, I just need to breathe out. Smile

Thanks a lot for your attention Smile

Hey Tamara, here you can see how important it might be to read comics! Wink The word timber would have reminded me to one episode of `Lucky Luke? hunting the awful ?Daltons? he visited Canada, here particularly a camp of wood-cutter (lumberjacks) where the Daltons tried to cut trees and always when the lumberjacks cried "timbeeeer!!!" one tree fell, of course straight on one of the Daltons. I think I would have remebered that when I had heard timber. But leaving the kidding page, I?m sure that I probably with some other of your tasks would have failed!
