Hi Drahul and Witch,
Many thanks for your contributions to the forum - I absolutely agree with you: We are here to share our ideas and develop our English language skills and Witch started this interesting thread by introducing her country to us. Now, everybody is invited to ask questions about life in Venezuela (and in Kerala too).
I think that free (free of charge) access to information has become a very important factor increasing our standard of living. That's why I'm interested to know how people in different countries are using the Internet. Witch, what is the situation in Venezuela? How do people use the Internet? What is the price structure for Internet access? What about yourself? How often do you go online?
Drahul, please tell us more about yourself. What do you do in Kerala? Where did you learn English? Have you got any contacts at the University of Kerala?
Talk to you soon, Torsten
PS: Drahul, could you please do us a favour and spell the personal pronoun you correctly? If you like I can explain my I think this is imporant. Thanks. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hi torsten,
ya you are correct, I'll be careful next time. I got this habbit thru e-chats and sms messages.. find very difficult to avoid sometimes. Also this way of telegraphic scripts has become a fashion in this fast world.
I have' t introduced myself to anyone, let me intrioduce myself. I am a software engineer working as a senior associate in Chennai, India. Have been here for 4 years, and love my job as much as I love my family. I speak malayalam. My home town is 550 KM from the place where I am currently working. I did my Engineering (ECE) from REC Trichy (now called National Institute of Technology).
I joined this forum to develop my english vocabulary. I also get lots of opportunities to go to the US to meet our clients. Have been there twice. |

Hi
The internet in my country in getting better, we have many ways to use it like: you can have it in your office, at your home or also you can go to a cyber and rent one machine for the time you want, regarding to the price it’s like less than 1 dollar per hour, i’m not sure about the speed of the access, let me check it up .......here say 10.0mbps is that good? I use internet often (4 days per week) because i like it and it’s very useful to find any information that you need, to get in touch with you family and friends in other country or state (who don’t remind how long do you have to wait until you get an answer for a regular letter uffff) people can use the phone to do it but is more expensive and using internet you even can watch them, and to play and have fun too of course.

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce my country, which is called Moldova. It is a small (33,843 km?) but a beautiful and independent country, and it is famous for its wine! The total population of Moldova (for the year 2002) is 4,431,570 people. The official language is Moldovian (Romanian). However, most of the people living in Molodva can speak Russian. The capital is Chisinau, it's a very beautiful town with a lot of beautiful women. It's population is (for year 2002) 920000 people.
Thank's for reading! |

Hi everyone!
I'm new here, and I'd like to introduce myself and my country. I'm Anna, and I live in Catalunya, which I don't think you have ever heard of... well, what if I tell you I'm from Barcelona? Now you know where I'm from?
Catalunya is a part of Spain legally, but we catalans consider Catalunya as our country, not Spain. Its capital is Barcelona, we are 7 millions people and Catalunya is divided into 4 provinces: Girona, Lleida, Barcelona and Tarragona (the Roman Tarraco). We speak Catalan, a language derived from Latin and quite similar to Spanish, but pronounced differently.
Our traditional music is the "sardana", and it's danced in a cercle. Our symbols are "La Muntanya de Montserrat" (Montserrat Mountain), which is very strange (search a photo of this mountain in internet and you'll see), "La Verge de Montserrat" (Montserrat Virgin), which is a black madonna (curious, isn't it?) and a 3 branched pine, and of course our flag (5 lines in yellow and 4 in red).
We had the Olympic Games in 1992, and the Cultures Forum last year, all in Barcelona.
We've got the Mediterranean sea, mountains, plains, deltas (U2's Vertigo clip was shot in Delta de l'Ebre, in south Catalunya)... paella, great wine, lots of fruit, and it scarcely rains. Well, the tipical Mediterranean country. |
