Hi teachers,

The body beautiful is a title of unit 10 in New Headway.

Why the adjective beautiful comes after the noun body?

Is it a reduced phrase of the clause the body that is beautiful?

Thanks in advance

Hi Jupiter

"The body beautiful" is an inversion of "the beautiful body". Inversions can be used for emphasis or to catch attention (they catch attention because they're not "standard").

This particular inversion is pretty commonly used (for effect), so it usually catches more attention from non-native speakers than from native speakers. Laughing
