. Grant a waiver sounds reasonable. Indian English is more overtly polite in tone than BrE or AmE, and therefore often sounds overdone to Western ears. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Could I request a native speaker to write it for me?
Is grant a waiver a set phrase?

Mr. M. is indeed a native speaker. Do you want it to sound "American" with our customary brusqueness? Yes, grant a waiver, or be granted a waiver, are standard phrases. |

. One way I might write it:
This is to request a waiver from your IT course as of 29 October. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
