Explanation of servile (adjective)
slavish; groveling; subservient; submissive; subject

Sample of servile
He knew they both possessed equal abilities, and yet he was always treated as a servile underling.
His servile leadership forced her to take over.
The servile nurse did everything the doctor told her to do.



   
Explanation of stoic (adjective)
detached; unruffled; calm; austere indifference to joy, grief, pleasure or pain

Sample of stoic
The soldier had been in week after week of fierce battle; nonetheless, he remained stoic.
With stoic obedience the child sat quietly on the chair.



   
Explanation of clandestine (adjective)
secret; hidden; covert; stealthy; underhand

Sample of clandestine
The clandestine plan must be kept between the two of us!

excessively fond of; adoring

With great joy, the doting father held the toddler.



   
Explanation of sovereign (adjective)
superior; independent; self-governing

Sample of sovereign
The most that Europe can hope to achieve, or should aim for, is an expanded economic free trade area made up of sovereign states all contributing to a cultural diversity that is economically stable and ecologically sustainable.
As with sovereign governments many of these state enterprises will not directly earn foreign exchange.

that which cannot be blotted out or erased; permanent

deadly; causing distress or death; destructive

Sample of baneful
Not wearing a seat belt could be baneful.



   
Explanation of pernicious (adjective)
dangerous; harmful; destructive; malignant

Sample of pernicious
Standing oil combined with a fresh rain on the asphalt can have a pernicious impact on a driver's control of the road.
The pernicious fire engulfed four blocks of homes.
