Dear Friend,
This week Sue is giving us two important tips on effective learning. What are these tips and how do you think you can apply them to your own learning process?
...When translating texts I have made my own CDs of literal translations which I listen to whilst reading the Latin. The theory being, that I am using two senses instead of one, auditory and visual - this seems to work for me. New vocabulary seems to sink in by omosis - but, IF I miss even a couple of weeks, I find I need to do extra practice, it really does demonstrate the "use it or lose it" lesson. I listen to these translations on audio tape as well, when walking to work, or walking my dogs. In fact I use every means I can think of to aid me.
The one thing that I have found with Latin studies, is that I need to do a little EVERY day, whether it's some translation, an exercise, researching on the web, or simply reading some history, or even watching a TV programme on Roman history. It all seems to reinforce my learning...
To be continued next week.
Friend,
What are your learning experiences?
We are looking forward to learning them.
Best regards
Torsten Daerr
