Dear Friend,

Last week we talked about why we are learning English. And we recognized that it is not just English that we are learning, but how to adjust to new circumstances and keep up to date. More and more terms, words and phrases in the German language are English and oftentimes there is no translation for them. Do you remember the examples we sent you last week? Yes, AIRBAG, MARKETING, BRUNCH were 3 of them. Can you think of other English words we use when we are speaking German? I'm sure you can come up with at least 50 terms and phrases. We should compile a list of these items and analyse why there is no German equivalent.

Friend,
What do you think about that project? Oh, you don't have time? Well, how much time does it take to write down English words you use on a regular basis? Not much I guess. All it takes is some awareness of the change that is taking place around us.

So, the next time you are watching TV and Vodafone's commerical is on - write down the phrases and think about what they mean.

Let's elaborate on that subject next Thursday.

Best wishes
Torsten Daerr
