Could it be that Maslow's Hierarchy of needs applies to Animals also?

Can you think of any other dynamic or instance when an animal of nature may communicate with another species?

Curiosity?

Probably in some cases but I was thinking of "The will to live" or "Self Preservation"

I am reminded of the times when I am making something in my Work-Shop and sometimes a Pigeon would walk into the Workshop as if it was talking to me. Usually I tried to pay attention because this was normally a sign that a Hawk was hunting it and was moving in for the Kill. But then I would get an important phone call over something and have to leave and then when I would come back later I would find a some feathers scattered as the only remains of the poor Pigeon that was asking me to save it.
This has happened quite lot of times and its as if when its staring death in the face it will communicate with another species as a last desperate attempt for help?

Unfortunately for the local Pigeon Population and a lot of others, Communicating with me is normally not going to save your life. :-(

Do you have to take your cell phone at the workshop?
I'd like to see Hawk, btw.

You're talking about communication in extreme moments between animals and human being. People rescue animals when possible, but animals also rescue people - we all know about dogs or dolphins rescuing people who are in danger.

I found a video where animals ask for help and they get it from other animals, no matter the species:

The most interesting for me is why did the bird feed the fish - what signals did it get? or was it that smart as to think it for itself?
I'd like to think it's a matter of communicating.

It probably knew that it was the fish's food and that its its owner wanted it to fed them?

Maybe it was thinking "later I can eat them when they're fat and my owners not here. :-)

Only joking. :-)

Well, at a closer look... all the fish look skinny, so there's nothing much to do with them
