My Mom shocked me today: I arrived in a rented car with an ad reading 'Buchbinder -- rent a car' all over it. She looked at it and said (in German): "Son, how come you are driving around in a 'Rentnerauto' and why would somebody even write something like this on a car'?
The word 'Rentner' is German and means 'pensioner', 'retired person'. So my Mum thought that 'rent a car' means 'cars for retired people' -- that's just great, isn't it? I mean, maybe Buchbinder should change their advertising strategy in Germany ;-)?
