It is a non-finite verb; 'parking' is also possible.

Hello, Why the sentence is: "Then, the woman put some coins into the parking meter so she wouldn't get a ticket." and not "Then, the woman put some coins into the parking meter so she would get a ticket." Did she want to get a ticket or not? Shouldn't we use "could" instead of "would". This would make more sense for me Thanks |

She didn't want a ticket, because in this case a 'ticket' means a parking fine. She put the coins into the meter so that she wouldn't get a big fine for parking in the wrong place without paying. _________________ "Inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened."

Thanks for your explanation. I did not know the other meaning of the word "ticket". Now, the sentence is very clear and makes sense. |
