Different groups of animals have different names; it is just a historical fact of the language. Many of them developed when more of us hunted or raised animals.

A herd of deer/cattle
A pride of lions
A flock of ducks/chickens/sparrows
A bevy of quail
A pack of wolves/dogs
etc.
