It refers to the culmination of a fight or battle. A football final for example. Shows who is best. (Reveals.) _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |

Hello,
Showdown = face to face encounter or face-off.
Ok.. Can we use 'showdown' for anything else other than sport games and cowboys? |

Of course ... after a confrontation between major powers, or between lovers who are telling each other the truth ... at last! _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |

Hi Kitos,
Sounds like 'to clear the air' or 'patch things up'. |

No-- it is not to 'patch things up'-- it is a fight to the finish. The example given originally is of a football match. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

The phrase 'can you explain me' does not exist in English. It's probably a direct translation from your native language. In English we say 'can you explain' or 'can you explain to me'.
