. Simple present tense (get) is not a normal usage here, as it means either habitually, or as a permanent truth. Getting a job, however, is a single event in time; here the speaker is indicating that point in the past (got).
Use simple present for habit:
I get a job every summer.
or for timeless fact:
People get money if they get a job. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

. What do you mean by that sentence? It has no practical meaning for me. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

For example: I like bananas so I can also like a job at the bank, can't I? |

. It is an odd sentiment indeed, but if I were to express it, I would follow your banana model: "I like jobs at banks"-- or even more 'colloquial', "I like working at banks". . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

'He is a teacher' has a verb in the present tense, simple aspect. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
