I can understand the meaning of the normal words, but I am not sensible the technict words to fit the above sentence.

Hi Savath,

I'm afraid I know nothing about baseball and for all I know 'quarters' and 'periods' apart from their first meaning, which I assume you know, may well be associated with that sport. The only word I am familiar with is 'innings', which is also used in the game of cricket. It means the length of time or the duration of the time that a player is engaged in trying to score points. You will have to refer to an American speaker of the other words.
