The sentence you wish to know about is correct other than that you don't need the comma because you have used the connective 'and'.

"Shirley has gone to the library and won't be home until later this afternoon."

You should have used the word 'written' not 'wrote' in your question.

You can ask questions in the forum without tagging them on to test questions that are not related. :)
