In this question, 'down here' relates to a downstairs room where the father is currently speaking. Shortly the children will go upstairs and the father is explaining he wants them back where they are now at 8:00. _________________ "Inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened."

be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (humorous) to be full of energy and eager to do things - She was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed the next morning, despite having been up half the night. |

Not so much 'energetic' as ready to go, Tofu. The saying is often used to indicate readiness as a sort of humorous exaggeration. _________________ "Inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened."
