what is the meaning of yellow in this sentence?

As they turned round and ran away, people thought they were yellow.

Correct answer: (d) yellow

Your answer was: correct

iŽd appreciate if someone could explain to me.... and ohhh by the way i found as well "plum job" on an exercise:

He is very lucky to have got himself a plum job.

Correct answer: (d) plum

What does it mean?

Hi,

'Yellow' is regarded as being cowardly, running away from danger. 'A plum job' is a very good job that everyone would want.
