Thanks B., what about my easier explanation:
Sonia said: ,,He got a promotion at the Business News''. so: 1.I heard he got a promotion at the Business News.- is that correct? or I heard he had got a promotion at the Business News- or is that correct? Thanks a lot.. |

Both are acceptable, and in the US you might hear, "I heard he had gotten a promotion...' _________________ "Inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened."

Hi Bev,
Can we also say:
1. Catch up on each other's news. 2. Catch up on what's going on. 3. Catch each other up on the latest news.
Thank you. _________________ "He who tries to establish his point by much yelling shows that his reasoning is weak"

You can say the first two, but not the third. 'Catch up with each other on the latest news' would be okay, though wouldn't sound as natural as the other suggestions. _________________ "Inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened."
